 | | Jonathan Goss, Site Coordinator | Hello! I’m Jonathan Goss, 21st CCLC Site Coordinator at Phalen Lake Elementary School. I have been the Site Coordinator at Phalen Lake since 2000. In 1999 Phalen Lake established After School Achievers, an after school program that provides additional academic studies (reading, math and homework tutoring), and enrichment activities such as sports, dance, theatre and other cultural and fun classes. Each student is provided 1 hour of academics and 1 hour of enrichment. Targeted students are those recommended by the school staff.
The program operates Monday through Thursday, 2:50pm - 4:50pm, October through April. Students receive | | Beading is one of Phalen Lake's most popular 21st CCLC classes. | a snack during the program, and transportation is provided for students who take the bus to school. After School Achievers is provided by a 21st Century Community Learning Centers Grant in collaboration with ALC, The East Side Arts Council, Hmong Youth Educational Services (formerly Lauj Youth Society), East YMCA and other community agencies. | | Students performing what they learned in Jam Dance. | Also this year, we will be collaborating with Cleveland Junior High to offer opportunities for fifth and sixth grade Phalen Lake students to visit and take part in activities at Cleveland. The program is designed to help our older students make the transition to a junior high environment.
Registration begins in early September, and late registrations are taken on a space availability basis.
